Finally after a month of dry weather, we received several feet of snow starting on Thursday. The skiing was amazing and the girls got their first taste of powder skiing. Summer was even skiing through the trees with dad (slowly in very deep snow of course.) She was so proud of herself. The girls had fun sledding in the yard and helping dad shovel the driveway. This is one of the best winters ever!

Ruby's Roost

Hey, its Suzy Chapstick (I know I am showing my age)

I shot this video while following the group - sort of like an action cam. Summer is in the pink directly in front of the camera and Paige is just in front of Summer.

We have been skiing both days of almost every weekend this winter, quite a change from last year when we still had naps and diapers to deal with. One of the girls' favorite places to go on the mountain is a run called Ruby's Roost which leads to a little cabin in the woods called Quincy's Cabin. They take their skis off and walk up to the cabin and peek in at the big stuffed bear named Quincy who is sleeping in there. We have been having a blast together and are really enjoying this family time. At one point during the day Brook was leading followed by Paige and then Summer and I was in the back just smiling at the progress we have made. The girls love to ski and are improving with amazing strides each week. Summer was hot on my tail at one point during the day and I was loving every minute of it. They get such a sense of accomplishment each time they do something new. What better way to spend a weekend together!

Apres Ski

Apres ski Summer and Paige style

The girls love skiing and it makes them so good and tired. I took this picture after we got home from skiing on Sunday.

Who says January is boring?

Dad and the girls

All of the girls

We spent New Year's Eve with the kids and had a fun family dinner at a Japanese restaurant with a table around a hibachi. The kids loved it and can't wait to go back. The chef made a "volcano" out of stacked onions and fire streamed into the air from the volcano and the kids were mesmerized. We came home and put on the New Year's Eve party hats made by the girls and watched a fireworks display put on by the Canyons ski resort from the comfort of our home. Summer told me her three New year's Eve wishes came true - 1) she wanted to go out to dinner - check, 2) she wanted to stay up late - check and 3) she wanted to see New Year's Eve fireworks - check. (I did not even know the fireworks were planned, we just happened to hear them so whew on #3.)

We went skiing today and had an awesome day on the mountain. I knew these days would come after so many years in diapers and chained to nap schedules. It was FUN! The girls are doing great on skis and Brook and I even got in a few runs together while our friends watched the girls. 2010 is looking really bright!

Adios 2009!

Farewell to 2009! It was a great year with many milestones for the kids - no more diapers, Paige started skiing, Summer began kindergarten, Summer is thriving in math and loving reading, Summer learned to swim, Paige and Summer are ice skating. All of us are healthy. Bring on 2010 and Happy New Year everyone!
